CLEP Exam Information

College-Level Examination Program (CLEP) is the most widely accepted credit-by-examination program. More than 2,900 accredited institutions of higher education award credit for satisfactory scores on CLEP exams. Florida SouthWestern State College minimum passing scores and course equivalents can be located in the current college catalog under “Degree Acceleration Programs.”

FSW Testing is an approved DANTES site, which allow DANTES funded eligible examinees (military/spouse/civilian employees) to be exempt from paying the FSW CLEP administrative fee.

Obtaining A CLEP Exam Voucher

IMPORTANT The first and last name on your government-issued photo identification with signature must match the name on the CLEP registration ticket.

Otherwise, the candidate will be dismissed and asked to contact CLEP customer service to request a name change which takes between two to four weeks.

Register for a CLEP exam with the College Board. The fee is $95 per exam and it must be purchased online prior to registering for an exam date.

Obtaining a Test Appointment (Lee Campus Only)

Florida SouthWestern State College collects a $25 administrative fee per exam.

  • The $25 administrative fee will be paid on test day. Please bring a credit/debit card to complete the payment (no cash or checks).
  • Please arrive 15 minutes before your testing appointment time.
  • You will have a grace period of 15 minutes after your appointment time. After this, you will be considered a late appointment and testing will not be guaranteed.

Testing with Accommodations

  • The candidates who desire to test with disability-related accommodations and have a letter from the College Board where their accommodations are listed, may receive those accommodations presenting such document at the moment of check-in. You must register for the morning session at 9 AM if your accommodations include extended time.
  • The candidates with disability-related accommodations who are current FSW students and have a Letter of Accommodations (LOA) from FSW ADAptive Services, may receive those accommodations as listed on the LOA. You must register for the morning session at 9 AM if your accommodations include extended time.
  • Please notify Testing Services that you intend to use disability-related accommodations by emailing fswtesting@fsw.edu a week in advance.

CLEP Exam ID Requirements:

The ID must be a government-issued photo ID. The ID must include the candidate's name, signature, and a recognizable photograph.

  • Current passport with name, photograph, and signature.
  • Valid driver's license with name, photograph, and signature.
  • State or Province ID issued by the motor vehicle agency with name, photograph, and signature.
  • Military ID.
  • National ID with name, photograph, and signature.
  • A tribal ID card.
  • A naturalization card or certificate of citizenship.

Please note: When creating an account on College Board, the name on the account/Registration Ticket MUST MATCH EXACTLY the name on the government-issued photo ID in order to sit for a CLEP exam.

Unacceptable ID Documents: The following documents are not acceptable forms of ID for the CLEP examinations:

  • Credit or debit cards of any kind.
  • Social Security card.
  • Employee ID.
