If you were invited to give a TEDtalk on any topic of your choice, what idea would you want to share with the world?
Article 24 in the United Nation’s Universal Declaration of Human Rights essentially argues for the human right to play. It reads, “Everyone has the right to rest and leisure, including reasonable limitation of working hours and periodic holidays with pay.” This idea runs counter to our culture which tends to emphasize work as the main component of our identities and encourages us to organize our days (indeed our lives) around our work. Discuss this work vs.play dichotomy. If you could design the ideal working environment for the profession you plan to pursue, what would that look like? Be as creative as possible: imagine how many hours a day you would work, how flexible those hours might be, whether or not there would be childcare available on site, whether or not you could work some hours remotely from home. What would the work space look like? Would offices have nap pods? Would there be open social spaces with ping pong tables or video games?
The podcast, Three Song Stories "is an exploration of the power music has to connect us to times, places, people, and emotions from our lives." Select three songs that have had special meaning to you in your life and explain why they have become important touchstones for you. Here is a link to the podcast if you'd like to listen to some of the stories for inspiration:
