Florida SouthWestern State College was allocated funds from the federal Coronavirus Aid, Relief, and Economic Security Act (CARES Act). The CARES Act established and funded the Higher Education Emergency Relief Fund (HEERF). FSW’s allocation was as follows:
- $4,589,499 to provide emergency grants to students
- $4,589,498 to cover institutional costs associated with significant changes to the delivery of instruction
- $580,905 to address needs directly related ot the coronavirus
Emergency Grants to Students
FSW signed and returned to the Department of Education the certification and agreement on 4/17/20. FSW intends to use, no less than 50 percent of the funds received under Section 18004(a)(1) of the CARES Act to provide Emergency Financial Aid Grants to students.

FSW estimates that 12,008 students (based on Spring 2020 enrollment) may be eligible.
