BUC Card Agreement
The BUC Card is the property of Florida SouthWestern State College (FSW), is not transferable, and remains valid as long as the holder continues his/her affiliation with the College. Use by anyone other than the person to whom it was issued is strictly prohibited. The cardholder is subject to disciplinary actions and penalties for improper use of the BUC Card.
The information contained in the card system, including your BUC Card photo, can be used by FSW for internal College business purposes as deemed appropriate and approved by the Vice President of Student Affairs for students and approved by the College's General Counsel for employees.
Once funds have been deposited into your Campus BUC$ account, they may only be withdrawn by way of purchases. You may not withdraw cash prior to your graduation, withdrawal or separation from the College. If you have funds in your Campus BUC$ account at the end of an academic term, it will be carried over into the upcoming academic term.
Upon separation from the College, a refund can be obtained for any remaining balance in your Campus BUC$ account. This form can be obtained at the BUC Card Office. Any refund amount will first be applied to any outstanding balance owed to FSW.
If you fail to request a refund of any balance remaining in your account for a period of 3 consecutive academic terms after graduation, withdrawal or separation from the College, the balance will be automatically refunded less any outstanding balances due FSW, with the minimum refund being one dollar.
By using my Buc Card to gain access to the FSW Fitness Center, Group Fitness and Campus Recreation activities, I hereby agree to indemnify and hold harmless the Florida SouthWestern State College Board of Trustees, its officers, employees and agents, from and against any claims, damages, or liability arising from use of the FSW Fitness Center and/or participation in any of the programs or activities offered by the FSW Fitness Center.

I have read this agreement before signing below, and I fully understand its contents, meaning, and impact. I understand that I am free to address any specific questions regarding this agreement by submitting my questions in writing prior to signing. By signing this Agreement, I acknowledge my acceptance of the terms and conditions stated herein and agree to be bound by such terms and conditions.
I have read and agree to the above conditions and agree to abide by the policies of the BUC Card Office, as published on the BUC Card website located at https://www.fsw.edu/buccard. Policies may be amended by FSW and such changes will be posted on the BUC Card website 21 days prior to the effective date.
Policies
All Florida SouthWestern State College BUC Cards are the property of Florida SouthWestern State College and are provided for appropriate identification purposes and access to products and services. The card is not transferable and is valid as long as the cardholder continues his/her specific affiliation with the College. Any misuse, alteration, or fabrication of the card may subject the cardholder to revocation of the card and may result in disciplinary action by the College.
Florida SouthWestern State College BUC Cards will be issued under the individual's Banner Identification Number, which is printed on the face of the card. Cards are issued by the BUC Card Office and campus ID Card issuing locations.
Only one Florida SouthWestern State College BUC Card is issued to each person. Cards are issued based on an individual's primary affiliation at Florida SouthWestern State College. There is a hierarchy in the system that determines an individual's primary affiliation. If an individual is affiliated with Florida SouthWestern State College in more than one way, the designation on their BUC Card will reflect the affiliation of which they are most associated, or their primary affiliation.
If an individual's primary affiliation changes and a new BUC Card designation results from this change, a replacement ID card will be given.
Florida SouthWestern State College BUC Card photographs are digitized and stored electronically. Florida SouthWestern State College retains full rights to these photographs and can be used by Florida SouthWestern State College for internal College business purposes as deemed appropriate and approved by the Vice President of Student Affairs for students and approved by the College's General Counsel for employees.
Government-issued identification with photograph must be presented prior to an Florida SouthWestern State College BUC Card being issued. Appropriate forms of identification include a passport, driver's license, or military/government identification card. The College reserves the right to challenge the validity of any identification presented to obtain an Florida SouthWestern State College BUC Card if said identification appears altered, worn, unclear, photocopied, or issued by an unrecognized organization or institution. In these cases, an additional government-issued ID may be required.
Under no circumstances shall a potential cardholder be permitted to wear any type of hat or face covering, including, but not limited to, veils, masks, sunglasses, or visors, that covers any part of the head, during the photographing for an Florida SouthWestern State College BUC Card. If requested, privacy will be provided during the photographing process. All photographs will be taken one person at a time, front-facing with no hand or other gestures.
All contents of the Florida SouthWestern State College BUC Card (including, but not limited to design, magnetic stripe, information, photographs, and printed and graphic elements) are subject to the control of Florida SouthWestern State College. Furthermore, the information provided on the magnetic stripe may not be "deconstructed," "reverse-engineered" or otherwise tampered with, and its elements used without written consent from the appropriate Florida SouthWestern State College authority. It is the sole responsibility of the College to preserve the integrity of the magnetic stripe data, and under no circumstances is it permissible for any person or persons, whether affiliated with Florida SouthWestern State College or not, to modify this stripe.
The ability to deposit funds onto a BUC Card online is open to any BUC Card holder. Deposits can be made in person with the Banner ID number and last name on the account or a Campus BUC$ Deposit Form can be completed and mailed to the Cashier's Office.
The BUC Card is the property of Florida SouthWestern State College. Individuals must surrender the identification card if so instructed by the Campus Police Department or an Florida SouthWestern State College official. The individual card holder is responsible for protecting all services and products provided by that identification card. No cardholder is permitted to lend his/her identification card to others for any purpose. This includes accepting payment for College services or products onto your card and then using it to make a payment on someone's behalf.
There is a $30.00 fee to obtain a replacement BUC Card. The fee must be paid in advance at the Cashier's office using cash, check, or credit/debit. The cashier will provide a receipt of payment that must be shown to the BUC Card or ID Issuing office staff prior to the re-issue of another BUC Card.
When a lost BUC Card is received in the BUC Card Office, it will immediately be determined if the card is active in the system. If the card is active, it will be immediately frozen in the system. The frozen card will be stored in the BUC Card Office. If the card is not active, meaning a replacement card has already been issued, the card will be immediately shredded. Once a card is frozen, the BUC Card Office staff will send an email out to the individual letting them know their lost card has been received. Individuals will be required to sign a form stating they have verified the status of their account and received their lost card.
Terms & Conditions
The BUC Card must be presented at the time of use in order to obtain services. Your card and related accounts are non-transferable; any misuse or illegal transactions can result in privileges being suspended or revoked. Except as provided below, you are responsible for the usage of your card.
Campus BUC$ Accounts
- The Campus BUC$ Account is an optional account of pre-deposited funds accessed by the cardholder for products and services. Funds cannot be withdrawn off the card at any time, except for withdrawal/separation from the college or graduation.
- Cardholder's Campus BUC$ accounts will be activated automatically upon an initial cash deposit of a minimum of $5.00.
- The cardholder understands and agrees that the BUC Card is not a credit card, nor can it be used to obtain cash or cash advances from the account under any circumstances.
- If the cardholder's Campus BUC$ account balance goes below zero as a result of the system or one of its readers being off-line, the cardholder remains responsible for payment of those purchases. In the event of a negative balance, the balance will be applied to your student account receivables and the cardholder will be notified via e-mail stating the negative balance. The cardholder will be given 30 days to pay the negative balance. If after 30 days the negative balance has not been reconciled, a hold will be placed on the cardholder's student account preventing registration and transcript requests.
- Merchandise will be accepted for return according to the refund policy in force where the goods and services were purchased. Cash refunds will not be made for returned merchandise that was purchased with the BUC Card. A credit will be made to the cardholder's Campus BUC$ account.
BUC Card Bookstore/Financial Aid Account
- You must present your BUC Card at the time of use in order to obtain services. Your card and related accounts are non-transferable; any misuse or illegal transactions can result in privileges being suspended or revoked. Illegal usage can also result in criminal prosecution and academic sanctions as provided for in the Student Handbook. You are responsible for the usage of your card, including general terms of use and specific terms listed below for the Bookstore Buying Days usage.
- Cardholder's BUC Card Bookstore Buying Days with Financial Aid privileges will be activated according to the schedule determined by the Office of Financial Aid.
- If the cardholder's BUC Card Bookstore Buying Days with Financial Aid balance goes below zero as a result of the system or one of its readers being off-line or a reduction in financial aid eligibility, the cardholder remains responsible for payment of those purchases. In the event of a negative balance, , the balance will be applied to your student account receivables and the cardholder will be notified via e-mail stating the negative balance. The cardholder will be given a 30 day term, or up to the last day of their academic term – whichever is shorter, to pay the negative balance. If after this grace period the negative balance has not been reconciled, a hold will be placed on the cardholder's student account preventing registration and transcript requests.
- It is strongly recommended that the student track their balance availability and receipts at all times and note that any change in your enrollment or other Financial Aid eligibility factors can affect the allowance balances.
Error Resolution Procedures
- If an error is noticed on any receipt or statement, contact the BUC Card Office no later than sixty (60) days after the error appears. If the cardholder reports the error orally, to the BUC Card Office at (239) 432-6700, a written confirmation is required within ten (10) business days addressed to: Florida SouthWestern State College BUC Card Office 8099 College Parkway Fort Myers, FL 33919
The cardholder should furnish the following information:
- cardholder name,
- cardholder number,
- a description and dollar amount of the transaction in question, and
- an explanation of the discrepancy.
- The results of the investigation will be available within ten (10) business days of notification. If more time is needed, the investigation may take up to forty-five (45) days. If an error is found, it will be remedied by Florida SouthWestern State College, and documentation will be provided to the cardholder. If no error is found, a written explanation will be provided within three (3) days after the close of the investigation. Copies of the documents used during the investigation may be requested by the cardholder.
Closing Accounts, Refunds, Returns
- Upon complete withdrawal/separation or graduation from the institution, the cardholder may request his/her account be closed and Campus BUC$ balances of $5.00 or more be refunded. The card holder must submit a refund request form (PDF).
- The BUC Card Office reserves the right to close any BUC Card Account that has been inactive for 3 consecutive academic terms.
- Refunds on accounts with remaining balances greater than $5.00 will be made at the full value of the unused balance. Refunds will be applied to the student's account receivables with the college. All debts on the cardholder's student account must be satisfied prior to a refund being issued. Any negative BUC Card account balances will be charged to the cardholder's student account, or billed directly to the cardholder. If your Campus BUC$ balance is less than $5.00 we will not be issuing refunds and recommend you spend down the balance before separating from the institution.
Documentation
- If the point-of-sale terminal is equipped to provide a receipt, you may request a receipt at the time of purchase. It is the Cardholder's responsibility to ensure the receipt is correct.
- Activity statements can be generated upon request of the cardholder.
Effective Date of Agreement
These terms and conditions are effective immediately and remain so until written notification is published. Florida SouthWestern State College shall post on the college website all BUC Card policy changes at least twenty-one (21) days before the changes become effective. Prior notice need not be given where immediate change in a term and/or condition is necessary to maintain or restore the security of the system or account.

Confidentiality Statement
Florida SouthWestern State College will disclose information to third parties about cardholder accounts only:
- In order to comply with court orders or other applicable laws.
- If the cardholder gives the BUC Card Office written permission.
