Education

1998: Ph.D. in Biology, The University of Alabama, Dissertation: Phylogenetic Systematics of Marine Turtles of the Epifamily Dermochelyoidae.

1994 – 1996: Undergraduate and graduate studies in geology, The University of Alabama, no degree awarded.

1995: M.S. Zoology, Auburn University, Thesis: Redescription of the Protostegid Turtle Calcarichelys gemma Zangerl, 1953 and Systematic Revision of the Protostegidae using Cladistic Analysis.

1991: B.S. Pre-veterinary Medicine, Zoology Major.

2010 – present: Professor of Anatomy and Physiology, Florida SouthWestern State College: Anatomy and Physiology I & II and Introductory Geology.

2003 – 2010: Assistant/Associate Professor of Biology, Longwood University: Freshman Orientation, Non-majors Biology, Vertebrate Morphology, Vertebrate Physiology, Evolution, student advisor.

1999 – 2003: Curator of Vertebrate Paleontology/Collections Manager, Alabama Museum of Natural History, The University of Alabama: field recovery, preparation, and cataloging of fossil vertebrates; recruit, train, and supervise student workers and volunteers; direct, in cooperation with other museum/university departments, extended summer expeditions; manage Harrell Station Paleontology Preserve; conduct research including publication and representation at appropriate conferences; collaborate with other museum/university departments to design and install paleontology exhibits; manage paleontology budget; interact with members of the press and general public in matters regarding paleontology; manage publication of the Alabama Museum of Natural History Bulletin.
