The One Theme, One College initiative provides a common intellectual experience for FSW faculty, staff, and students through a series of events and programs centered around an annual theme. OTOC has brought in internationally-recognized speakers to campus, provided opportunities for students to showcase their artistic and literary skills through art contests and publication opportunities in FSW’s literary journal Illuminations, as well as roundtable discussions and film screenings.
For Fall 2023 and Spring 2024, OTOC’s theme is The Pursuit of Happiness. To promote engagement with this theme two keynote speakers, Dr. Catherine Sanderson and Dr. Lucinda Vickers, encouraged us to think about happiness, history, and nature in fresh and exciting ways, while on-campus groups and clubs hosted several events, such as the Legal Studies and Debate Club that explored the question of how the U.S. Constitution makes us happy.
For Fall 2024 and Spring 2025, the theme will be Our Changing Worlds. A schedule of events will be listed in August 2024.
