
What is Buccaneer Bound?
Buccaneer Bound is a 6-week summer bridge program designed for first-time-in-college students that provides a head start on your college education. Through a combination of academic coursework, personalized support, and access to college resources, participants gain the skills and network they need to thrive from day one at FSW.
Program Benefits
- NO OUT-OF-POCKET COST: You may receive a $1,000 scholarship that covers your summer tuition, fees, and books. ○ Scholarship availability is limited and distributed on a first-come, first-served basis.

- PEER NETWORK AND CAMPUS IMMERSION: Develop a support network with classmates while acquainting yourself with FSW’s culture, facilities, and resources
Program Information
You’ll enroll in two courses during the Summer Mini-B session:
- Cornerstone Experience (SLS 1515), which is a course to help you successfully transition to college life by covering topics such as goal setting, career exploration, learning styles and strategies, and mental and physical health management.
- Mathematical Thinking (MGF 1130), a math course focused on solving problems in context, using realistic applications for students, and ultimately recognizing math as a human endeavor.
Courses and other program scheduling will take place on campus, Monday – Thursday from 9:00am to 1:30pm. See the Official Academic Calendar for Summer Mini-B term start and end dates.
Program Eligibility
- Graduated high school this year
- Admitted to FSW
- First-time-in-college student
- Dual enrollment students who have not completed SLS 1515 and MGF 1130 will be considered
- Pursuing an Associate in Arts degree
- Ready for college-level English, reading, and math classes
