Circles of Care Conference Celebrates 16th Year of Educating SW Florida's Educators

Circles of Care Conference will be presented by Child Care of Southwest Florida, Inc. in partnership with the School of Education at Edison State College on February 5th. Now in its 16th year, Circles of Care Early Childcare Conference is a daylong event geared to teachers and early childhood educators in Southwest Florida. Educators can attend exciting programs and workshops while gaining CEUs (Continuing Education Units) necessary for licensing.

 

The media is welcome to attend Circles of Care on Saturday, February 5th from 8:30 a.m.-3:30p.m. at Edison State College, 8099 College Parkway, in Fort Myers. The program begins in Barbara B. Mann Performing Arts Hall with various workshops and events scheduled around campus after registration.

 

Two celebrities will be part of the fun! Jack Hartmann, Hop2it Music, a nationally recognized singer, songwriter, author and educator will celebrate his belief that music is a fun learning opportunity for everyone! Hartmann’s music incorporates all styles, including hip-hop, rap, country, reggae, rock'n'roll, gospel and rhythm and blues. Mike Veeck, author of “Fun Is Good!” and   “How to Create Joy & Passion in Your Workplace & Career” will be the keynote speaker for the event.  His high energy and enthusiasm is sure to motivate everyone.

 

Over 25 vendors will be on hand showcasing exciting tools available to educators. Golisano Children’s Museum of Naples will host a display of materials with hands-on experiments.

 

"Circles of Care provides an unmatched opportunity for all of us in Southwest Florida who have the privilege of nurturing and educating young children and their teachers to share a day filled with new ideas, remembered purpose and wonderful collegiality," explained Elaine Schaeffer, Professor of Early Childhood Education at Edison State College.

 

Multiple workshops are available for a range of educators, focusing on topics relevant to early childhood and preschool to directors and those who teach school-age children. Samples of the workshops range from “the Dilemma of Biting” for infant and toddler care to “Bookmaking” and “Teaching Social Skills through Literature” for preschoolers and “Disaster Planning” for directors. Workshops will be presented by highly qualified instructors including faculty members from the School of Education at Edison State College.
