Charlotte DPO Spring Musical -

Apr 14, 2010

Missed the hilarious “A Funny Thing Happened on the Way to the Forum” during its Tony Award winning performance on Broadway? See it now on the stage of the Charlotte campus auditorium!  "Tragedy tomorrow, comedy tonight!" from Broadway's greatest farce is light, fast-paced, witty, irreverent and one of the funniest musicals ever written – the perfect escape from life's troubles.

The story, inspired by the farces of the ancient Roman playwright Plautus (251–183 BC), specifically Pseudolus, Miles Gloriosus and Mostellaria, tells the story of a slave named Pseudolus and his attempts to win his freedom by helping his young master woo the girl next door. The plot displays many classic elements of farce, including puns, the slamming of doors, cases of mistaken identity, and satirical comments on social class.

Edison State’s performances will be presented by the Charlotte campus chapter of Delta Psi Omega theater fraternity starring some of the students of Edison State College and the Edison Collegiate High School. Directed by Sherie Ragan, Charlotte theater director, performances are Friday April 23 and Saturday April 24 at 7:30 p.m.  and Sunday April 25 at 2:30 p.m.

Tickets are $12 for adults and $10 for students and can be purchased on-line at  www.edison.edu/charlotte/theatre   or at the door before each performance.
