The Edison State College Collier Campus proudly hosted Governor Charlie Crist on Friday, January 22nd. While on campus, the Governor held six interviews with candidates for the open Collier County School Board position. The interviews at the Edison State College Collier Campus were the first stop for the Governor in a daylong series of events in Collier County that included a visit to Rookery Bay Reserve and Cambier Park in downtown Naples.
The Governor was greeted by Campus President, Dr. Jeffrey Allbritten, as well as students and college faculty and staff. “It is an exciting experience for the College and the students,” said Dr. Jeff Allbritten, Edison State College Collier Campus President. “The governor was very gracious and spent time meeting with our members of our Student Government Association.”
Following the interviews Governor Crist appeared at the Rookery Bay National Estuarine Research Reserve to dedicate a new bridge and to outline his environmental priorities for the coming year.
“Our recent partnership with Rookery Bay is part of the College’s commitment to Environmental Studies and marks the beginning of Environmental Research at ESC,” said Allbritten. “The Governor’s selection of Rookery Bay to highlight his support of environmental issues is a true compliment to the quality of the programs here.”
