Sheriff's Office Finds Assault Report is False

Charlotte County, Fla. – Edison State College thanks partners at Charlotte County Sheriff’s Office for the hard work and for the attention given to this case since it began just 2 days ago. 

 

Major Crimes Unit detectives from the CCSO have determined no assault took place on campus as reported.

 

“At Edison State College we pride ourselves on providing a superior learning environment,” Charlotte Campus President Dr. Patricia Land. “Additionally, we pride ourselves on maintaining a campus that is safe, secure and student-focused.”

 

Edison State is in the process of reviewing student disciplinary guidelines. All matters concerning this student’s academic status, records, behavior is protected by a Federal Law through the Department of Education:

Family Education Rights and Privacy Act (FERPA).

 

“While the circumstances have changed, we are still very concerned about the well being of this student and we will work to get her the help she needs,” said Land. 

 

The investigation falls under the student code of conduct procedures. Edison State College is in the process of reviewing procedures as they pertain to this case.
