Public Information Specialist Joins Charlotte Campus

Edison State College is pleased to welcome Eric McKinney as the new Public Information Specialist for the Charlotte Campus.

 

In this role, McKinney will be the media liaison for the Charlotte campus, and will be responsible for disseminating information about events and programs available at Edison State. He will also plan and publicize special events for the college, coordinate media interviews and keep the Charlotte Campus’s website up to date.

 

“Eric’s deep connection to the Charlotte County community and his professional background make him a natural fit for this position, “said Dr. Patricia Land, Edison State College Charlotte Campus President.  “I think you’ll find Eric’s enthusiasm and bright personality a true asset to the Charlotte Campus.”

 

McKinney will be responsible for press release, press inquiries, content for the website, newsletters and brochures.  A journalist for several years, his most recent position was Sports writer and designer for the Charlotte Sun.

 

“I love telling stories, Edison State College has so much to offer students and the community,” said McKinney. “I want every person in the area to feel connected to our outstanding students and campus.”

 

McKinney is an award winning sports writer. In 2008, the coveted Florida Press Club Excellence in Journalism awarded McKinney first and second prizes in the sports category. He has been honored with the Michigan Associated Press Editorial Association Award. He earned a Bachelor of Arts Degree from Michigan State University’s School of Journalism.

 

Eric and his wife Alison are expecting their first child in July.
