FSW Supports Healthcare Workers During COVID-19 Pandemic

APRIL 28, 2020 – FORT MYERS, FLA — While COVID-19 has shut down on-campus classes and activities at Florida SouthWestern State College (FSW), the college’s faculty, staff and students have continued to work to support Southwest Florida’s healthcare workers over the last two months.

 

  • FSW’s Respiratory Care program loaned three ventilators to Lee Health
  • FSW’s Respiratory Care program loaned two Vapotherm units and donated disposable ventilator equipment and filters to NCH
  • FSW’s School of Health Professions donated personal protective equipment to hospitals in Lee, Charlotte and Collier Counties
  • FSW’s School of Health Professions raised more than $2,000 and bought lunch for healthcare workers at NCH North Naples Campus, Lee Health, and Charlotte County hospitals - https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=8B0FASLvG2o
  • FSW’s School of Business and Technology donated personal protective equipment to Lee Health
  • FSW Nursing students raised money to create headbands with buttons to help healthcare workers comfortably secure their masks
  • FSW Respiratory Care students donated desserts to local healthcare workers
  • FSW art and honors program students created the #ShareOurSky project to honor local healthcare workers and all those in the SWFL community affected by COVID-19

 

“Many of the healthcare professionals that work in our local hospitals and healthcare facilities are graduates of FSW’s health professions programs,” said Dr. Jeff Allbritten, FSW president. “These workers put their own health and safety on the line for us every day, and they are the ones who will take care of us when we are sick. FSW is honored to support these healthcare heroes in any way we can.”
