Edison State College welcomes Matthew Robert Holliday as the new District Director of Governmental Relations

Holliday will serve as the College's chief legislative officer working with local, state and federal lawmakers on behalf of Edison State.

"As a graduate of Edison in 2001, I consider it a privilege to return and to be a part of the many great things happening at the College right now,” said Holliday. “The transition to a state college opens up many new opportunities for the overall college community.”

Holliday was selected from a diverse pool of applicants. He served as a Legislative Aide to Representative Stan Jordan, District 17. In his role he researched, analyzed and assisted in the drafting of legislation and worked with numerous state agencies on behalf of the residents of District 17. His work was integral in the passage of key Florida legislation for the past 4 years.

“Holliday brings an excellent array of skills to Edison State,” said Dr. Kenneth Walker, District President. "The entire college will benefit from his close work with the Florida legislature, his deep knowledge of our state government and knowledge of Edison as a former student."

A veteran of the U.S. Air Force, Holliday served with the 20th Special Operations Squadron/16th Helicopter Generation Squadron and later with the 920th Rescue Wing as a Helicopter Crew Chief.

As a member of the Air Force, Holliday was deployed overseas in support of Operation Joint Endeavor. He earned the NATO Peacekeeping Medal for operations in the former Yugoslavia. Additionally, Holliday earned the honor of Air Force Good Conduct, Small Arms Expert Marksman and received an honorable discharge.

Holliday earned his Bachelor’s Degree in Social Science from Florida State University and holds an Associates of Arts Degree from Edison State College.
