Edison College's Charlotte Campus President, Dr. Patricia Land, accepted a $71,725 federal grant from U.S. Rep. Tim Mahoney [D-Florida] at Peace River Regional Medical Center last Saturday. The funds will be used to purchase new hospital beds for the Charlotte Campus nursing lab, and training equipment including an IV simulator.
Land expressed appreciation for Mahoney's leadership in securing funding to address the growing need for qualified nurses. "These funds will assist Edison College in preparing future nurses for their important work in local hospitals and clinics, and help ensure high-quality health care across Charlotte County."
The Basic Nursing Program is comprised of classroom instruction, laboratory simulation, and clinical practice in the care of infants, children and adults. Application deadlines are May 15 and August 31 of each year. Information may be obtained by calling 1-800-749-2322.
