Charlotte Campus Disaster Drill Scheduled for Friday, June 20
Jun 19, 2008
This message is from Dr. Patricia C. Land, Charlotte Campus President:
Please be advised that on Friday morning, June 20, 2008, Edison College's Charlotte Campus will be the site of an emergency training exercise. As they say on the radio and TV broadcasts, "This is a test of the emergency systems. This is only a test."
First responders and college personnel will participate in a simulated emergency scenario involving the campus. While the nature of the event has not been disclosed, fire trucks, EMS vehicles, police cars, a hazardous materials team and others will respond to a 911 call from campus. The exercise will be coordinated and conducted by Emergency Response Educators and Consultants, Inc. [EREC, Inc.].
Check points will be established at the two campus entrances beginning at 7 A.M. Only authorized individuals will be allowed on campus. The college's emergency notification systems will be activated, a command post established, public information and media areas designated, and areas of lockdown announced for campus buildings.
I sincerely thank Rick Parfitt, District Public Safety and Security Manager, our campus planning team, and the students and staff who have volunteered to participate in the event.
