FSW Names New Campus President and Interim Provost

Jan 4, 2016

Dr. Jeff Allbritten, President of Florida SouthWestern State College, today announced the appointment of a campus president and of an interim provost, both which will be effective February 1.

Dr. Denis Wright, FSW Provost, has been named the Charlotte Campus President and Vice President for Economic and Community Development. He will be working with Dr. Pat Land during the next month to ensure a smooth transition. Dr. Land, who has been the Charlotte Campus President since 2002, will be retiring from FSW in March. Dr. Jeff Stewart, VP Research, Technology and Accountability, will serve as Interim Provost/VP Academic Affairs.

“Dr. Land has been a wonderful leader for our college for nearly 14 years. In addition to serving as our Charlotte Campus President and VP of Economic and Community Development, she was also Acting President of the college,” said Dr. Allbritten. “We all wish her well in her retirement, and she is certainly appreciated for all she has brought to this college. For example, she is a key reason for our successful partnership with Western Michigan University (WMU), which in turn holds great promise for our students and the Charlotte County community.”

WMU is scheduled for approval to offer programs in Florida at the March Florida Department of Education meeting.

“It’s important for us to have our campus president in place as things progress with WMU,” said Dr. Allbritten.

Additionally, Dr. Jeff Stewart will serve as Interim Provost and VP Academic Affairs.

“Dr. Stewart has a wealth of experience which will serve us well during this transition period,” said Dr. Allbritten. “This move gives us time to carefully consider our options with regards to a permanent Provost and VP of Academic Affairs.”
