FSW School of Health Professions Sponsor CCE

Sep 22, 2015

September 22, 2015 – FORT MYERS, FLA – This August, the Florida SouthWestern State College (FSW) School of Health Professions sponsored and coordinated the Continuing Credit Education (CCE) courses during the Association of Women's Health, Obstetric and Neonatal Nurses (AWHONN) annual Florida Section conference held in Sanibel, Fla.

“CCE credits are required for nurses to renew their license,” said Martha Jenner, FSW Nursing professor. “The courses target various nursing specialties with content specifically focused in those areas.”

Jenner, who serves as the AWHONN State Education Coordinator, also helped organize a preconference for nursing students and new nursing graduates, a result of Florida AWHONN leadership planning at the AWHONN National Leadership Conference. The FSW Foundation sponsored nine FSW nursing students to attend.

“Many nurses are approaching retirement, and positions for obstetric and neonatal nurses are very competitive. We have to reach out to new nurses, introduce them to our specialty, and provide the training and skills needed in these areas to help it thrive,” Jenner said. Collaborations with FSW and professional organizations like AWHONN will foster a future of well-prepared nurses in this essential specialty area.
