FSW Students Place Top Worldwide in GLO-BUS Project

Jul 6, 2015

JULY 6, 2015 – FORT MYERS, FLA. – Florida SouthWestern State College Supervision and Management students have placed first worldwide in GLO-BUS, a business strategy simulation for educating management students in global business markets.

A part of the final Capstone course for students in FSW’s Supervision and Management bachelor’s degree program, taught by Professors David Hoffman and Michelle Fanslau, teams of students run a digital camera company and compete against  their peers from other colleges worldwide. Throughout the project, students focus on marketing, strategic planning, financial forecasting, global and social responsibilities, and other areas they would encounter when working in real-world companies.

Students from various national and international colleges and universities participate in the simulation, and each week, GLO-BUS collects the results from all participating schools.

Last spring, FSW had two teams that placed number one worldwide as overall best performing company, and this summer, FSW’s teams have placed in the global top 50, with one team placing first for Overall Game-To-Date Score in week six of the project.

“I am very proud of the consistently excellent results of many of our Capstone groups in the GLO-BUS simulation,” said Hoffman. “Our students at FSW have had ongoing success and strong results are not uncommon, but number one worldwide is commendable.”

“We believe that our program is teaching all of our students the skills they need to succeed in business and our entire faculty should be commended,” Hoffman said. “Professor Fanslau and I only guide these students; it is their overall business education which produced these strong results.”
