FSW Professor Invited to Present Findings at International Congress

Florida SouthWestern State College (FSW) Professor Chitra Paul Victor (Felts) RN, RM, CNE, MSN, MD (AM) has been invited to present her research paper, “Cultural influence in knowledge, belief, and practices related to pregnancy and child birth,” at the International Nursing Research Congress in San Juan Puerto Rico.   

“I am humbled and honored to have been selected as a presenter for this prestigious event,” said Chitra Paul Victor (Felts), Professor, FSW School of Health Professions Department of Nursing.  “The opportunity to collaborate with more than 900 international nurse leaders, researchers, and educators who are experts in their area will be exciting and rewarding.”

Professor Victor (Felts) completed her midwifery and MSN in community health nursing, and has trained midwife students in India and Nepal. In Nepal, she established a community-based nurse-midwifery program, where nurse-midwife students are trained in resource poor rural and tribal settings.  She is one of the five nurses from South-East Asia to receive the SIDA (Swedish International Development Corporation Agency) scholarship to attend UPPSALA University in Sweden to obtain a diploma in reproductive health and rights. Victor (Felts) has also received international scholarships to present her research works in Thailand, Sweden, South Africa, Switzerland, and Spain.

The Sigma Theta Tau International 26th International Nursing Research Congress will be held from July 23 -27 in San Juan Puerto Rico.  More than 900 nurse researchers, students, clinicians and leaders attend the International Nursing Research Congress to learn from evidence-based research presentations.
