Hundreds of Pounds, Hundreds of Dollars - Edison State College Housing Cleans Out to Help Others

May 13, 2014

Hundreds of pounds translated to hundreds of dollars to help others when the student residents at Edison State College’s LightHouse Commons cleaned out at the end of the Spring semester. They recently donated 670 pounds of goods to the Goodwill “Good to Go Donation Drive.” This donation translated to approximately $536 to help those in our local community.

“At the end of the semester, we offered our on-campus housing students the chance to ‘clean out’ as they moved out,” says Judy Pultro, Director of Auxiliary Services at Edison State College. “The students were happy to help by donating.  And it is great to know that it will positively impact the lives of so many others right here in Southwest Florida.”

LightHouse Commons is Edison State College’s first on-campus residence building. It is conveniently located on the Fort Myers campus at 13301 Edison Parkway.  With more than 400 rooms available, in two and four bedroom suites, LightHouse Commons creates a supportive, safe, and engaging residential community while also enabling students to foster their personal development and academic success.

Celebrating over 50 years of excellence, Edison State College is Southwest Florida’s largest, most accessible and ranked nationally as one of the most affordable institutions of higher education. Serving more than 22,000 students per year regionally, nationally, and internationally, students are also active in a wide variety of clubs and programs that cater to their interests. Nationally, Edison State is ranked 45th among associate degree producers and 26th for its prestigious associate producing Nursing program.
