Charlotte Regional Medical Center Volunteers Give $100,000 To Edison State

FEBRUARY 3--PORT CHARLOTTE- Edison State College Charlotte Campus received a check in the amount of $100,000 from the volunteers of the Charlotte Regional Medical Center on Friday, January 31. The funds will go towards a scholarship for Charlotte residents who major in health professions at Edison State College. Dr. Marie Collins, Dean of health professions, stated “I’m so enthused about this generous donation the volunteers have made to the school. This truly shows the good work and integrity of our students here at Edison”
The funds are provided by proceeds from the organization’s gift shop and other entities they participate in.
Jocelyn Honan, President of the Volunteers organization added ‘this day is very rewarding for all of us at the volunteers”.
“Over many years this money accumulated, and we all voted to create a scholarship for students in Charlotte County”, stated Joan Lasley, Treasurer of the volunteers’ organization.
“We are truly appreciative of these medical auxiliary volunteers who are so deeply committed to our local hospital. Their gift to Edison will enable many local residents to pursue a career in the health sciences. Their gift today is a legacy that will benefit generations to come,” said Dr. Patricia Land Charlotte Campus President/Regional Vice President Economic & Community Development, Edison State College.
