Career Services Coordinator Gary Rhine Presents at Annual State Conference
Jul 31, 2013
JULY 31, 2013 – NAPLES, FLA –Edison Career Services Coordinator Gary Rhine was recently invited to present “Something Borrowed, Something New” at the Florida Career Professional Association’s annual meeting in Orlando.
Rhine discussed the results of an outcome-based pre/post career development assessment survey, originally created by Martin Shibata, the Director of Career Services at California Polytechnic State University, which Rhine adapted to measure learning skills and confidence in students who visited the Career Services office at the Edison State College Collier Campus. Students were invited to complete the pre-post career development survey after completing the career assessment process.
In the survey, students evaluated seven core career counseling services: choosing a major, choosing a career plan, resume preparation, cover letter, interviewing skills, job search exploration, and transfer exploration.
“Through the results of the surveys, we found the counseling we provide at the Career Services office helped students improve their learning, skills, and abilities, and that they also gained confidence in using what they had learned to choose a college major and career path,” Rhine said. “We will continue to develop and adapt the survey in the future as our Career Services counseling evolves.”
Career Services at Edison State College offers a wide array of services to students, visitors, and employers. The professional staff in Career Services has many years of collective experience in career coaching, assessments, and job search skills training.
