Edison Foundation Elects New Board Members

JULY 16, 2013 – FORT MYERS, FLA. – At its most recent meeting, the Edison State College Foundation elected two new members to its board of directors.

Marcia L. Hobe, Senior Vice President and Fiduciary Officer of Trevett Capital Partners, is an Edison alumna. She has served the Lee County community in various roles including the 2002-2003 Lee County United Way Campaign Chair, and the 2009 co-chair of the Junior Achievement Hall Business Leadership of Fame Lee County Laureate event. She currently serves on the Planned Giving Council and is a past member of the Estate Planning Council of Lee County. In 2008, Hobe was selected as one of Florida Weekly's Southwest Florida Power Women, and the American Red Cross of Lee County honored her with its 2011 Legacy Award.

Jayne M. Young is a partner of Clear View Financial Services, LLC in Port Charlotte. She focuses on college planning, long term care solutions, and tax strategies. Currently, Young serves on the Board of Directors of the Punta Gorda Soccer Club and has served on various committees including membership, financial auditing, and family activities for the Punta Gorda Isles Yacht Club for eight years.

Existing board members Cort Frohlich, Attorney/Partner with Frohlich, Gordon & Beason, P.A.; Charlotte Miller, FPL Regional Manager for Southwest Florida; and Andy Tilton, Principal with Johnson Engineering had new terms ratified.

Melissa Congress, Kevin Cooper, Dudley Goodlette, Carl P. Grissom, Anne Keesling, Deanne Kyle, Richard Lewis, Mary Lee Mann, Jim Nolan, Jr., Richard Penix III, Jill Ciccarelli Rapps, Mark Schlehr, Victoria B. Stephan, and Ellen Webb also serve on the Edison State College Foundation Board of Directors.

Since 1966, the Edison State College Foundation has been enhancing the access and quality of education for Edison State students. Its focus is to attract and manage private contributions from individuals, organizations, business, and private foundations to support Edison State’s mission. Managed by a voluntary Board of Directors of business and civic leaders from all five counties served by Edison State College, the Foundation is a private non-profit entity recognized by the Internal Revenue Service as a 501(c)(3) tax-exempt organization and by the State of Florida as a direct support organization for the benefit of Edison State College.

As a partner in building a better community, the Edison State College Foundation promotes higher education with student scholarships, support of academic programs, technology enhancements, and new and improved facilities.
