Dr. Jones Named Leadership Collier Class 2013

Dr. Robert Jones, President, Edison State College Collier Campus, has been named a member of the Greater Naples Chamber of Commerce’s Leadership Collier Class of 2013.
“Leadership Collier is an exceptional program that further cultivates leadership and engagement in our community. I’m pleased that Dr. Jones will now join the ranks of leaders who graduate from this program,” said J. Dudley Goodlette, Interim District President, Edison State College.
Launched in 1989, Leadership Collier is a 10-month program designed to educate local business leaders about the societal and economic challenges of the Collier County community. Participants must first submit a detailed application to the Chamber for consideration, and only a few are selected each year for the Leadership Collier program.
Having received a Bachelor of Arts degree in Economics followed by a M.B.A. in Management from the University of Texas, Dr. Jones went on to earn his Ed.D. in Higher Education Leadership from Nova Southeastern University. He was selected for and completed the Harvard Education Management Institute for new College Presidents.
In 1991 he joined Edison State College as Vice President of Administration and Finance for the college’s District offices. During his 20-year career with Edison State College, he has served in several key positions, including Lee Campus President and He is now President of Edison State College’s Collier Campus.
He has been instrumental in managing day-to-day activities, increasing student enrollment, acquiring property for expansion plans, overseeing the design and renovation of buildings, raising over $1 Million and strengthening academic programs and building community partnerships.
Dr. Jones is also active in the community, volunteering his time and expertise for several worthy causes. He has been appointed to the Southwest Florida Workforce Development Board, the Greater Naples Chamber Education Committee, Friends of Rookery Bay, and Member of the Education Foundation for Collier County. Dr. Jones also served on the Industrial Development Authority of Lee County, the Canterbury School Board, and the Chamber of Southwest Florida, as well as President of the Uncommon Friends Foundation.
