Spring 2012 Commencement Ceremony for Edison State College

 

 FORT MYERS, Fla. - Edison State College will celebrate Spring Commencement at a bigger venue this year with a prominent graduation speaker as the college commemorates its 50th anniversary.

 

Porter Goss, former director of the Central Intelligence Agency, will address hundreds of students from the Hendry/Glades Center and the Lee Campus at the Germain Arena Friday evening.

 

There will be 27 students graduating with an Associate in Arts Degree from the Hendry/Glades Center.

 

Seven students will graduate with high school diplomas and their Associate in Arts Degree as the result of a dual enrollment program with area high schools. All seven students are going to college. Those students include:

 

Alejandra Castro – LaBelle High School

Irene Castro – LaBelle High School

Joshua Longwell – Moore Haven Jr. Sr. High School

Kevin Longwell – Moore Haven Jr. Sr. High School

Kendall Marotti – LaBelle High School

Morgan Pepitone – LaBelle High School

Jessica Torres – Clewiston High School

 

 

“Dual enrollment provides educational pathways for students to excel academically, save time and save money,” said Brooke Roughgarden, coordinator of Student Services. “We’re very proud of their accomplishments.”

 

The 2012 Spring Commencement Ceremony will be held Friday, May 4. The ceremony begins at 6 p.m. and doors open at 4:30 p.m. Media is invited to attend.
