U.S. Diplomat Speaking about Job Opportunities

United States Diplomat Jeffry R. Olesen will speak to the students and faculty at Edison State College - Lee Campus next week.
Olesen will speak to students about opportunities for college graduates interested in working for the U.S. Foreign Service on February 22. This employment opportunity offers a competitive salary, travel, and adventure working in a U.S. Embassy or a Consulate with openings in most major world capitals and large international cities.
The U.S. Foreign Service also offers an internship program for current college students between their junior and senior year of college.
You must be between 21 to 62 years of age to be employed. If you plan on attending you will need a ticket, which is free. Tickets may be picked up in the Oral Communications Center from Kelly Westfield on the second floor of the Sabal Hall Building O Room 205 from 10 a.m. to 3 p.m. Monday through Friday.
Olesen, a career member of the Senior Foreign Service, is a U. S. Department of State Diplomat in Residence. Before assuming this position, Olsen served from July 2007 until July 2010 as Minister-Counselor for Management Affairs for the three U.S. Missions in Vienna, Austria; the U.S. Mission to Austria, the U.S. Mission to the United Nations in Vienna (US UNVIE) and the U.S. Mission to the Organization for Security and Cooperation in Europe (USOSCE).
Olesen entered the Foreign Service in 1987 and has served on seven overseas postings and two tours at the State Department headquarters in Washington. In addition to his tour in Vienna, his overseas service includes tours in Athens, Greece; Almaty, Kazakhstan; Budapest, Hungary; Lahore, Pakistan; Abu Dhabi, UAE; and Guadalajara, Mexico.
Olesen holds an undergraduate degree (Bachelor of Arts) in history and government and a Masters of Business Administration (MBA). He is married and has three adult children and two grandchildren.
