Edison State College Names New Interim President

Edison Board of Trustees Name J. Dudley Goodlette Interim District President

It is with great pleasure that I introduce to you J. Dudley Goodlette, our Interim District President. Today our Board of Trustees voted unanimously to appoint Mr. Goodlette to take the leadership helm of our College while we continue the process to search for a District President.

 

A longtime Naples resident, Mr. Goodlette graduated from Naples High School, Eastern Kentucky University and the University of  Florida College of Law. He served as an officer in the United States Army, Military Intelligence until retiring from reserve duty as a Captain.

 

He served as a member of the Florida House of Representatives from 1998-2006, and during his tenure, chaired several committees, select committees and select councils. From 2009-2010 he was Chief of Staff for the Speaker of the Florida House of Representatives.  

 

He has served on numerous community boards, and currently serves on the boards of directors for: Quest for Kids Foundation, Community Foundation of Collier County, Moorings Park Institute, and the Florida High School Athletic Association. He is currently a Trustee for the University of Florida College of Law, and a board of director for the Florida Lawyers Mutual Insurance Company Board.

 

Over the years Mr. Goodlette has earned many accolades, including the Naples Daily News Citizen of the Year; Economic Development Council Collier County Volunteer of the Year; Urban Land Institute Pathfinder Award winner; Boy Scouts of America Distinguished Citizen Award, and the Edison State College Foundation Leadership in Fostering Education (LIFE) Award.  He also served as a Trustee for Edison Community College from 1990-1994.
