Charlotte Campus to perform The Crucible

PUNTA GORDA, Fla. – Scandal, secrets and witches take to the stage in Edison State College Charlotte Campus’ fall production of “The Crucible” on Nov. 18, 19 and 20.

 

The widely recognized Arthur Miller play won the Tony Award in 1953, was adapted for the silver screen in 1996 and remains on the required reading list for most high schools throughout the country, including Charlotte County.

 

“The Crucible is a timeless tale that captures the raw power of human emotions to tell a story ripe with intrigue,” Charlotte campus Theatre Director Sherie Ragan said. “No matter how many times I’ve seen it performed The Crucible always delivers a good show, and I believe the core message very much applies to our society today with all the turmoil and unrest within the economy.”

 

“The Crucible” is set in 1600s Salem, Massachusetts, and accounts the infamous witch trials of the era. Edison’s interpretation features stage veterans Heather Weir, Johnathan David Myers and Victoria Lawson in the title roles of Abigail Williams, Reverend John Hale and Elizabeth Proctor. The production also features Edison newcomer and Charlotte High stage veteran Brandon Blondun as John Proctor.
