Collier Campus Celebrates Graduation

NAPLES, FLA. – They turned their tassels and became graduates of Edison State College Collier Campus. For 105 students, the graduation ceremony, held the evening of Sunday, May 1 at The Philharmonic Center for the Arts, marked the start of a new chapter in their lives.
“It was truly an evening about the students and their accomplishments, and a chance for their family and friends to celebrate with them,” said Dr. Jeff Allbritten, President, Edison State College Collier Campus.
Allen Weiss, M.D., President & CEO of Naples Community Hospital, was the commencement speaker.
During the ceremony, recipients of key awards were announced. The Auguste Rodin Award, established by the late H. Alvin Smith, recognizes an individual for exemplary leadership, service, mentoring, college service, creative thinking and self-improvement, was awarded to student Rico Ducatel. The Plummer Awards honor outstanding sophomores based on their college and community contributions, and this year’s winners are Maria Aceby, Melissa Lin and Oscar Castellanos. The President’s Award is given to a graduating student who has risen above adversity to succeed in college, and this year’s recipient is Johny Williamceau. The Outstanding Faculty award winner is Ryan Holt.
Students crossing the stage as graduates walked away with either a Bachelor or Associate in Arts or Science degree, or a professional certificate. Their studies ranged from nursing, accounting and business management to crime scene technology, EMT paramedic and emergency medical services technology.
The Edison State College Collier Campus, 7007 Lely Cultural Parkway, is located off Collier Boulevard, three miles north of Tamiami Trail East.
