Charlotte Campus nurses maintain 100-percent NCLEX pass rate

Apr 14, 2011

PUNTA GORDA – The Nursing Program at Edison State College Charlotte Campus continued its longstanding tradition of excellence as all 24 of the program’s December graduates have passed their National Council Licensure Examination.

Administered by the State Board of Nursing, passing the NCLEX-RN is a required step for any nursing graduate to become a licensed registered nurse. Graduates of the Charlotte Campus enjoy a pass rate in the mid-90s, well above the national average, with AP students maintaining a 100-percent pass rate.

“Our wonderful students certainly deserve all the credit but the entire campus has a tremendous amount of pride in this impressive accomplishment,” said interim Nursing Coordinator Dr. Sandra Geiger, RN. “The support Nursing receives from both the Edison administration and the professional community is overwhelming. And the faculty and staff within the Nursing Program are as dedicated a group as you’ll find in higher education; they go above and beyond every day to ensure each student not only learns the necessary material but also how to apply it in real life scenarios.”

The 24 Edison State graduates were a combined Advanced Placement and Mini Basic group with 14 AP students and 10 Basic.

The Charlotte Campus Nursing Program accepts 24 new Basic students each summer with 24 AP students each fall. For more information on the Nursing Program please visit http://www.edison.edu/academics/asnursing/nursing.php.
