Message from the Edison State College Chairman of the Board Chris Vernon
Mar 28, 2011
As Chairman of the Board of Trustees at Edison State College, I have received media inquiries stemming from local press reports that faculty at Edison have concerns regarding several issues.
With respect to the faculty, I provided a very brief memo on March 24, 2011. The purpose of this memo was to invite the faculty – consistent with appropriate procedures – to notify the board of trustees of any continuing concerns that were not adequately addressed as a result of the March 24, 2011 meeting with President Walker. The March 24, 2011 memo has now been posted on Edison’s website and Facebook page along with this message.
Independent and regardless of any notification of continuing concerns from the faculty to the board of trustees and to the extent appropriate, I anticipate items related to some of these issues will be incorporated into the agenda for the next board of trustees meeting. The next meeting of the board of trustees is scheduled for April 26, 2011.
I also want to note that it is my belief that the faculty not only shares my view that President Walker is a visionary leader, but also shares my desire to both protect the image of the college and remain focused on our SACs re-accreditation initiative. Based on the foregoing, I would like to again thank both the faculty and Dr. Walker for their continued dedication to the best interests of Edison Students and the Southwest Florida community.
Christopher T. Vernon, J.D.
Edison State College Chairman of the Board
