Phlebotomy technicians assist patients with the collection of blood and other clinical specimens.
Course participants will be trained to:
- Draw blood specimens by venipuncture, syringe, and micro-collection techniques.
- Collect and process other clinical specimens
- Prepare samples for laboratory testing and analysis
- Assemble and maintain medical instruments such as needles, test tubes, blood vials, and centrifuges
- Fundamentals: introductory concepts including roles and responsibilities: legal issues; ethics: patient communications; anatomy and physiology
- Safety: controlling infection: preventing injuries
- Transitioning from student to employee
Students who complete this course and pass the national exam will earn a nationally recognized Phlebotomy certification.

- July 15, 2024 - August 30, 2024
- September 30, 2024 - November 15, 2024
Class Schedule:
Monday, Wednesday and Friday 5:00 - 8:00 p.m. 7-week course
Course Cost
FSW's Phlebotomy course costs $1,900.

Lee county residents may be eligible for the ARPA grant through December 2024 to remove the financial cost of this course.
