Phlebotomy Course

Phlebotomy technicians assist patients with the collection of blood and other clinical specimens.

Course participants will be trained to:

  • Draw blood specimens by venipuncture, syringe, and micro-collection techniques.
  • Collect and process other clinical specimens
  • Prepare samples for laboratory testing and analysis
  • Assemble and maintain medical instruments such as needles, test tubes, blood vials, and centrifuges
  • Fundamentals: introductory concepts including roles and responsibilities: legal issues; ethics: patient communications; anatomy and physiology
  • Safety: controlling infection: preventing injuries
  • Transitioning from student to employee

Students who complete this course and pass the national exam will earn a nationally recognized Phlebotomy certification.

Eligibility Requirements

  • Adult (18 or older)
  • H.S. Diploma

2024 Phlebotomy Course Dates:

  • April 15, 2024 - May 31, 2024
  • July 15, 2024 - August 30, 2024
  • September 30, 2024 - November 15, 2024

Class Schedule:

Monday, Wednesday and Friday 5:00 - 8:00 p.m. 7-week course

Course Cost

FSW's Phlebotomy course costs $1,900.

Upcoming Class & Registration

ARPA Grant

Lee county residents may be eligible for the ARPA grant through December 2024 to remove the financial cost of this course.

Individuals interested in the ARPA Grant should complete the interest form for Corporate and Community Education classes at FSW to get started.
